Living off his music has always been his dream. At 33, David Cesana has just taken a new step in his life as an artist. An urban dance teacher at his schools in Draguignan and Montauroux, he passes on his knowledge to hundreds of students.
His musical universe, he now shares it with an album of thirteen titles released on February 3, on all platforms. Draft notebook Volume 2 brings together a mix of tracks made since confinement.
From the Michael Jackson
In the home studio he has set up with care, the former student of Thomas College and Jean-Moulin High School looks back on his career: “I was stung very early on by the universe of Michael Jackson, I played tapes on repeat instead of watching cartoons, I had the click for dance… And music”, he remembers.
From the age of 5, David improvises the show in front of the public. The press clipping from the time he preserves already describes him as a future star: “As a child, I put on a show very easily”.
At home, music is everywhere, David’s parents are passionate about funk and text songs: “I listened to a lot of music, my father gave me my first instruments and I started composing.”

On stage with Gims, Black M… And Grégoire
After a few years, the hip-hop group “Diamant Noir” he started with his two friends during adolescence separates. The young Dracénois continued his musical experience with other musicians. He gives dance lessons and undergoes intensive training to become a professional choreographer. There followed a period of traveling through Club Meds in Europe where the enthusiast put on shows: “It was a great experience of human management and sharing”he confides.
The Varois also performs during performances at the NRJ Music Awards and alongside renowned artists such as Gims, Black M and Grégoire: “I was happy, but I projected myself, I hoped to find myself one day in their place”.
During a show in tribute to Michael Jackson in Cannes, he is both a choreographer… and a dancer. One thing, however, is missing from his development: singing. “I wanted to try my luck, so as not to have any regrets.
The clip of Derivehis first single, has accumulated thousands of views, just like Dightmade with his friend Florent on video.
“Doubt trumps trust”
But the health crisis invites itself and “flouts a lot of programmed things”. The young man then gave line dancing lessons: “We organized ourselves to dance in parking lots”.
He creates in parallel an EP of 7 titles which he offers to his community. The boy with the urban look and the azure blue eyes, however, faces the complexity of the system: “When nothing is happening, doubt takes over trust.” With his new album, he now hopes to expand his audience and reach a new audience, living from his music and his shows.
“I expect my music to do people good”
It is well known, from dance to song, there is only one step. But assuming the double hat is not an easy task. Humble, David Cesana recognizes “not to be still comfortable enough to dance to my own music.”
Sensitive to the musical influence of Stromae, the Varois presents his new album, “more successful than the previous one”according to the words of his artist friends.
A first single with Mattias
The work, available on all streaming platforms, is made up of thirteen new titles with very eclectic sounds. A journey into the world of RNB (rhythm and blues), afro, rap…
Sides texts, romantic relationships, friendship etc. are among the topics covered, a “introspection” emotional as personal messages.
“I expect to perform on stage, for my album to meet the public and for my music to make people feel good”.
From the album, the song Carousele made with his childhood friend Mattias featuring (Collaboration., editor’s note) serves as the first single.
An alliance that does not surprise. The two artists from Dracé who improvised hip-hop choreographies in the gallery of the “Centre Hermès” in Draguignan with their sidekick Florent, are multiplying their collaborations.
Perhaps the opportunity to one day see local artists demonstrate the full extent of their talent on the same Dracénoise stage? The public hopes so in any case.
