In the zone of the Joint Forces Operation, at one of the training grounds of the Donetsk region, training firing was carried out from American M-141 grenade launchers and British NLAW anti-tank missile systems. About it informs ArmyInform.

The military practiced going to the firing line and shooting as part of fire training classes. Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine practiced firing in the presence of the Commander of the Joint Forces, Lieutenant General Alexander Pavlyuk.

What the British NLAW is capable of

NLAW is designed to destroy any armored or conventional vehicles, weapons and helicopters at a distance of 20 to 800 m. It is capable of penetrating armor up to 500 mm thick. NLAW operates on a “fire and forget” basis. This means that the operator does not need to guide the missile to the target for the entire flight path. Also, the complex can hit targets in cover. The rocket in this case will hit the roof of the tank turret with a cumulative jet even without having physical contact with it. The cumulative jet hits the target at an angle of 90 degrees.

What is the M-141 SMAW-D for?

SMAW-D is disposable grenade launcher designed to destroy field fortifications, as well as breaking through passages in buildings and walls. An 83-mm high-explosive HEDP grenade containing 1.1 kg of explosive is used as a projectile. One projectile is capable of penetrating up to 20 cm of concrete and up to 30 cm of a brick wall. It is noted that SMAW-D is capable of destroying lightly armored vehicles.
