Two weeks ago, the band received a license from the famous group Coldplay for a Ukrainian cover of their song in collaboration with BTS called “My Universe”.
In the studio “COLOR MUSIC” most of the children are engaged from the age of 4. In the city and country, the collective has long been heard due to victories in many song competitions. But it was YouTube that brought worldwide fame to the group. Videos from “COLOR MUSIC” performances have gained hundreds of thousands of views. Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the collective has begun to more actively publish videos with covers of famous songs, as well as clips, on the platform.
“It all started with the first cover of Coldplay’s song – Something just like this. It was she who made our choir really popular all over the world. Today our video has more than 59 million views,” said Elena Petrikova.
The team established a connection with Coldplay a year ago under sad circumstances – one of the participants was diagnosed with oncology. As luck would have it, a “COLOR MUSIC” fan from the Netherlands was able to contact Coldplay’s managers asking for financial assistance for the girl’s treatment. Now little Vera has already completed 4 courses of chemotherapy and is on the mend.
This year, when the group decided to cover Coldplay and BTS’s song “My Universe”, they had to translate some of the lyrics written in Korean. As the leader of the choir explained, it turned out to be an overwhelming task for the children to rap in the original. So a cover of the song was born, which sounds in 3 languages. However, in order to put it into rotation on music venues, a license was needed. Therefore, the collective, with the help of a friend from the Netherlands, turned to Coldplay again. After completing all the formalities, they received official permission.
Especially important for the kids was an email from the Coldplay members. In it, they admired how talented the team was that was able to record this incredible cover.
