In Dijon, difficult to return by taxi after hospitalization

Dominique is a 70-year-old patient who was unable to return home by taxi after an operation on Tuesday at the CHU Mitterrand. Living in the Toison d’Or district, he expresses his anger. Indeed, the septuagenarian had to return by tram, after having spent more than 5 hours in the operating room, because no driver took care of him at the exit. His transport voucher sent by his doctor, which allowed him to have a race reimbursed by social security to his home, was not accepted by Dijon taxis. A fact that he finds difficult to understand. 3 other patients would also have experienced the same situation, Tuesday morning around 9:15 am. A phenomenon that is not new according to the explanations provided by the taxis of the city.

A mistrust of taxis on these transport vouchers

Two drivers explain to us that they have already encountered problems when leaving the hospital when taking care of patients with a transport voucher. According to Alexis, a professional in the sector, some doctors prescribe vouchers when people are not really entitled to them. This is particularly the case in an emergency exit. If the patient is not affected by a “long-term illness” (or ALD), social security does not reimburse the race. The driver is then obliged to ask the customer to advance the race and to complete a form sent by social security. But sometimes they refuse. This is particularly what happened to one of his colleagues. However, he notes that this is rare, and that most often, he accepts support by trusting the client.

However, the mistrust of taxis on this medical prescription and its reimbursement system could explain the fact that some patients find it difficult to be taken care of by a taxi, on leaving the hospital, in Dijon.
