Part of the dialogue that will be had with the winner of the United States presidential election, Donald Trump, will be to highlight that Mexico is the main trading partner of the northern neighbor and that there is no competition between both nations, said President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
“Mexico had the export record in the last month, it is a very important record, we are the main trading partner of the United States, that is part of the dialogue that must exist with the United States, today President Joe Biden is still there, and also with President Trump. I have been raising it, it is not that there is competition between Mexico, the United States and Canada, the Treaty (T-MEC) allows us to complement each other and strengthen the economy of the entire continent.”
In the morning, the president also referred to the meeting she had yesterday with Larry Fink, president of BlackRock, and Adebayo Ogunlesi, executive director of Global Infrastructure Partners, a meeting that she described as very important.
Fink, the president said, agreed that “it is a good time for Mexico,” and with the strengthening of the T-MEC and the country’s economic strength, which “was shown yesterday in particular with our currency, as a strong currency, It was a day of many volumes of movements related to the peso, and all of this coincided with the fact that it is indeed a good time for Mexico and economic development.”
He added that the meeting allowed the “opportunity to know what the plan we have for the country is and the good indicators we have since the entry of the fourth transformation.”
In that sense, he highlighted that there was a change in the economic model after the arrival to the Presidency of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well as a change in the way of governing.
“We are entering a new historical process in Mexico, which has produced results; Yes, it is based on Mexican humanism and moral economy, but no matter how solid the principles are, if they did not give results it would be difficult to defend it. There is improvement in the distribution of wealth, in the reduction of poverty, there is infrastructure development, welfare programs, there are results.”
The central thing about development, added the head of the federal Executive, is that there is well-being for Mexicans.
“On the second floor of the fourth transformation we start from there to continue developing the country, and there is room for all Mexicans. There is room for entrepreneurs, for universities, for technological institutes, for the people of Mexico, who are the main protagonists of this transformation.”
In the meeting with Fink, the president added, the issue of the development poles that are projected for this six-year term was also raised, “where there are investment opportunities, international funds have a place in the country to organize that investment for the development of Mexico; We are talking about the development of ports and roads, mixed investment schemes that were developed with President López Obrador.”
