“There! There! Look at his shoulders, you can clearly see that he is throwing a punch!” In his box, Anthony G. can’t help but jump.
The gaze fixed on the television of the Criminal Court of Draguignan, the defendant continues: “Yes I hit him, but only after he put one on me. I’m a Catholic, but I don’t turn the other cheek!”
Five days of ITT
On the screen, the CCTV images of the remand center show Anthony G. annoyed by the tour of the two prison guards, who came as every day to probe the bars of his cell.
“Too bad, there is no sound”, blows President Jean-Louis Galopin into his mask. Despite the statements of the defendant and several viewings, it is difficult to say who struck the first blow.
On the other hand, the violent reaction of Anthony G. is beyond doubt. Before S.’s partner intervened, the defendant, with an imposing physique, managed to deliver two blows to the prison guard, causing him a jaw injury and five days of ITT.
“When someone attacks me, I respond”
“Each time, he causes us problems, S. told investigators. He can’t stand being disturbed. He’s aggressive.”
Punished by thirty days in disciplinary quarter, Anthony G. believes that he was the victim in retaliation of beatings from other supervisors.
“But the headmistress is like you, he addresses the court. She didn’t see the marks on my face. There is no worse blind person than he who does not want to see…”
In detention for almost three years, Anthony G. is awaiting his assize trial which will be held from June 7 to 10. He is accused of having murdered his partner, Dalila, on April 6, 2019 in Vidauban.
“Since my incarceration, have there been any other problems concerning me? No. I can sometimes be violent, but only in reaction. When I am attacked, I respond.”
Obviously, the chairman Lionel Escoffier, in the civil part, has another reading of the file. “Don’t mind” he smiled. “On the images, we see that S.’s shoulder is immobile. He hits after he’s been hit.”
“Monsieur is Catholic, I am like Saint-Thomas, engages prosecutor Pauline Loine. I only believe what I see. And we can dissect the images as we want, there is no self-defense on the part of Mr. Guillon. Above all, we see a man unable to contain himself, who wants to impose his tempo.
