The rules are aimed primarily at women migrants. Six out of ten women from the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey do not work while in Denmark.
The Danish government has changed the rule of payment of material assistance to refugees, putting forward a number of new requirements. For example, some migrants in Denmark will now have to work 37 hours a week to receive government assistance, reports BBC.
The corresponding statement was made by the head of the country’s government, Mette Frederiksen.
“We want to introduce a new labor logic, according to which people are obliged to contribute and be useful. If migrants and refugees cannot find employment on a permanent basis, they will have to work to get help,” said the head of the Danish government.
At the initial stage, the innovations will concern those migrants who have received state aid for three to four years, but still do not have a certain level of knowledge of the Danish language.
The Prime Minister stressed that the rules are aimed primarily at women migrants. The government said six out of ten women from the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey do not work while in Denmark.
The Danish government believes that this initiative will help migrants to integrate into society.
“For too long, we have done many a disservice by not demanding anything from them,” Frederiksen said.
As noted by Danish Employment Minister Peter Hummelgaard, this could be about “collecting cigarette butts or plastic” on the beach or helping with various tasks for a particular company.
Earlier, the Danish government set a goal to reduce the number of asylum seekers to zero. Denmark has strengthened its immigration policy more than once in recent years. Now this country has some of the most stringent requirements for migrants in all of Europe.
It was previously reported that the EU wants to urgently change the rules for refugees… The situation in Afghanistan and the actions of Belarus have demonstrated the need to revise the rules for granting asylum.
