In December in Latvia, Covid-19 infection was found to be 1.7 times less common in people with primary vaccination than in non-vaccinated or partially vaccinated people, comparing the incidence per 100,000 vaccinated and non-vaccinated / partially vaccinated people, but those who also received primary vaccination became ill 5, 5 times less often.
Last month, vaccinees were 3.1 times less likely to be hospitalized than unvaccinated / partially vaccinated patients, but those who also received a booster dose were 7.5 times less likely to be hospitalized.
A comparison of death rates, in turn, showed that people who received a primary vaccination in December had a 5.5-fold lower risk of dying from Covid-19 infection than those who did not / partially vaccinated, but those who received a booster vaccine had a lower risk of death from Covid-19 infection. case was 24 times lower.
The SPKC reminds that vaccines do not provide the same level of protection for all people. It should also be noted that in cases of high prevalence of Covid-19, the infection is more likely to affect vaccinated individuals. At the same time, as the number of vaccinated people increases, the proportion of infected people in the overall morbidity also increases mathematically.
However, according to the SPC, the risk of the disease in non-vaccinated people is still significantly higher compared to the vaccinated and non-vaccinated groups.
