Christmas in the jungle is the first Latvian film shot almost entirely outside of Latvia. The film crew and actors – Māris Olte, Inga Alsiņa-Lasmane, Rebeka Šuksta and Elizabete Liepa – spent nearly two months in exotic Indonesia, working alongside local actors and filming assistants on its production.

The filming experience was also quite an adventure for the actress: “It was so hot there! Every day was like the hottest summer. But the people were very nice, even though their food is pretty funny. On the set. , I met animals that you can only see at the zoo here. – there was even a real live python there! And a giant parrot and the specially protected hornbill “, Rebeka Shuksta recalls what she experienced in Indonesia.

Christmas in the Jungle tells the story of 10-year-old Paula whose family moved to an exotic country because her father is a geologist and works in a gold mine. Paula craves Christmas, but what if there is no winter? It turns out that Paula’s new friend, Achim, has heard that there is also a Christmas shaman in the jungle grove. The plan is in hand! However, children have no idea how many dangerous and exciting adventures await them along the way: underground caves, jungle spirits, cannibals, unusual animals and much more!

In the film, the father of the family is played by Māris Olte, the mother is played by Inga Alsiņa-Lasmane, the older sister is played by Elizabete Liepa, and ten-year-old determined Paula is played by Rebeka Šuksta. The role of his faithful companion and friend Achim is played by the Indonesian Brayden Pablo Escobar. The producer and author of the idea is Roberts Vinovskis, the author of the screenplay is Lote Eglīte, the director of the film is Jāks Kilmi, the cameraman is Aigars Sērmukšs.
