The right to receive land was granted to veterans who participated in the “special military operation” that Russia is carrying out on the territory of Ukraine. Such rights have already been granted to war invalids, as well as relatives of soldiers of the occupation army who died in this war.
The law stipulates that not all soldiers of the occupation army will be entitled to free land, but only those who registered their place of residence in the Crimea by February 24 this year.
“This law has a special meaning. By giving free plots of land to our soldiers, we express gratitude for their masculinity and for the heroic deeds they perform on the battlefield,” said Vladimir Konstantinov, the speaker of the Russia-loving Crimean parliament.
The land will be allocated from the municipal fund of Crimea. The head of the administration of the occupiers of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, earlier promised that he would try to allocate plots of land near the sea. They are designed so that new owners can build a house or set up a backyard farm.
Last year, an order came into force in the Crimea, which foreign nationals prohibited buy and hold land. It has hit Ukrainian citizens living in Crimea especially hard. It is believed that in this way the authorities tried to force them to accept Russian citizenship.
CONTEXT:
Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula belonging to Ukraine in 2014. It happened after an internationally unrecognized referendum.
Russian President Vladimir Putin initially denied the presence of the Russian military in Ukraine ahead of this referendum, but later admitted that behind the backs of Crimean “self-defense units” there were Russian soldiers.
Ukraine and the international community still consider Crimea an integral part of Ukraine. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi promisedthat sooner or later the occupiers will be expelled from the Crimea.
