In court for damages of 10,680 euros

On January 23, the hearing of the appeal of the case for the burglary and theft that took place on July 3, 2019 at the school complex, where the 10th Lyceum and the 14th Gymnasium of Patras are located, has been set and two people were convicted.

As it emerged from the assessment made by the services of the Municipality, the two defendants had caused damage of 10,680 euros to the school premisesas this amount was required for the supply and placement of the stolen items and also for the repair of the damages

It is expected on Tuesday, January 23 to hear the appeal of the case and the deputy mayor Dionysis Plessas has been summoned to appear in court to support the charge.

This particular school complex has fallen many times a “victim” of sophisticated criminals who see his equipment as prey for theft.

Specifically, in October 2022, unknown persons had invaded the 10th High School over a weekend in October and had an air conditioner removed, with the theft becoming known on the first day classes were back.

Even earlier, in 2012, thieves had broken into the office of the then principal of the same high school which is located on the coast of Dymaia. Then they had taken the computer that accepted the subjects of the Panhellenic exams and also one of the secretarial support systems.

All these incidents, as well as others that have happened from time to time in other schools, raise questions about whether there should be better security of the school complexes of Patras.
