A criminal case has been transferred to the court against a teenager for a false threat to blow up the Riga State 3rd Gymnasium.
On October 7 and October 14, 2019, the accused, who was also a student of the said school, taking false statements about the placement of an explosive in Riga Laura Majevska, the press secretary of the Prosecutor’s Office, informed the premises of the State 3rd Gymnasium.
After receiving the notifications, the school was evacuated and the Riga Municipal Police, the Emergency Medical Service, the State Fire and Rescue Service and the State Police left for the scene.
During the special inspection of the school premises, no explosive substances and objects were detected.
The victims of this criminal proceeding are the operational services. They have submitted an application for compensation for pecuniary damage in the total amount of EUR 1,800.
The criminal law for this crime provides for imprisonment for up to one year, forced labor or a fine.
The case has been referred to the Vidzeme Suburb Court of the City of Riga.
