We hope that Santa Claus has spoiled you well, and that this December 25th there are pretty things in your shoes. In any case, this year, many of you have been giving it a nice boost. Many of you took up the challenge launched by associations such as the Red Cross, Secours Catholique or Secours Populaire. Many of you made Christmas boxes, that is to say, decorated shoe boxes and filled them with nice gifts. Thanks to you this operation is a huge success !! The Côte-d’Or Red Cross alone collected 1,400 Christmas boxes.
These boxes are currently being distributed to the homeless, to the most disadvantaged, to all those who cannot afford a Christmas. Apolline, Norah and Mathilde live in Varois-et-Chaignot. They are all 14 years old. With Christophe, the leader of their social center, they succeeded in convincing the inhabitants of their commune to make a hundred boxes: “For example, we put good things to eat, a book, warm clothes, chocolates, and often, we slipped a card with a sweet note.” detail the adolescent girls. “A child even put on his blanket” specifies Christophe.
Sweet words on a card
It is now up to the associations to distribute these beautifully packaged boxes to the most disadvantaged. The Red Cross began delivery on December 24 on the occasion of the hot meal offered in the streets of Dijon. Wearing a Santa hat, Victor and his associates distribute the packages ” Go Stephanie, choose the one you like “ invite the volunteer.
Surprise, Stéphanie is also a little moved “Thanks to the Red Cross, we have a Christmas” confides the young woman who lost her RSA and has been homeless for two months “Yesterday evening, with my companion, we slept outside “ she slips.
She can’t resist the urge to open the package in the middle of the street: “So there are gloves, a scarf, we’re going to be hot!, A bottle of shower cream, packets of cakes .. and a little note.” On a card signed words Chris ” who sends lots of love and wishes next year to be better “ “I’m touched” assures Stéphanie, visibly moved.
“It’s something I will not forget” – Amin, on the street for a month
Big scarf and hat with pompom on his head, Amin receives his present without daring to open it yet. ” I knew there would be something on Christmas “, specifies this young man who has come to warm up with a coffee “I’ve been coming to meet the Red Cross for a month, especially to talk and socialize. There are plenty of admirable and caring souls. To be one of the first to receive this type of gift is something that I will not forget. When we have this kind of initiatives, it gives a good boost! “
Distribution continues for the next few days wherever there are people who cannot afford a Christmas. A huge congratulations to you all!
