Spanish football club Real Madrid announced on Thursday the allocation of its famous stadium, “Santiago Bernabeu”, to store medical equipment intended to combat the emerging Corona virus, which Spain is the second most affected country in the world.

“In cooperation with the Supreme Sports Council, the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will be transformed into a space suitable for storing donations of medical equipment intended to combat this epidemic,” the club, which crowned the most Champions League title (13 times), announced in a statement.

Real Madrid will allocate its stadium, which seats 81,000 spectators, to a place to store donations from companies and associations working in the sports sector before handing it over to the Spanish health authorities.

On Thursday, Spain crossed the barrier of four thousand deaths due to the new Corona virus, and it occupies the second place in terms of deaths behind Italy, ahead of third China, and where “Covid-19” appeared for the first time.

The Madrid metropolitan area is the most affected in the country, with more than two thousand deaths so far.

In the same context, the Italian Football Federation announced on Thursday that its training center Coverciano near Florence will be placed at the disposal of the health authorities to receive patients infected with Corona virus.

The Italian Federation said in a statement that many buildings, as well as the rooms of the center, which usually host the training of the Italian national football teams, will be made available and placed at the disposal of the health authorities.

“They can receive health-monitored persons as well as a family of patients who are awaiting hospitalization.”
