A city-wide commemoration event was held in Shirvan as a sign of deep respect for our martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of our country.
SIA reports with reference to AZERTAC that first the monument of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev was visited and deep respect was expressed to his dear memory.
In the ongoing event at the Alley of Martyrs, the memorial plaque of the Shirvan martyrs lost in the First Karabakh War, the graves of the martyrs of the First Karabakh War and the Patriotic War were visited, flowers were laid in front of them, and prayers were read for the souls of the martyrs.
Then, a city-wide event dedicated to Memorial Day was held in front of the “Martyr Mother” memorial complex erected in honor of martyred mothers.
The dear memories of our martyrs were commemorated with a minute of silence.
The head of the Shirvan City Executive Authority, Ilgar Abbasov, made a speech and said that on September 27, 2020, the glorious pages of our history were written with the beginning of the victory march of the brave Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander Muzaffar for the liberation of our occupied lands, and the celebration of the day of the beginning of the war as Memorial Day pointed out that it is an indicator of the highest respect for the martyrs. It was emphasized that at the cost of the bravery of our heroic soldiers and the blood of our martyrs, the whole world witnessed the glorious Victory of Azerbaijan, and the territorial integrity of our Motherland was restored. At the same time, it was stated that special attention and care is given to the families of martyrs and veterans in our country at the state level, and effective work is being done to solve their social issues.
Other speakers talked about the examples of heroism shown by the glorious Azerbaijan Army under the leadership of the victorious Commander-in-Chief in the 44-day Patriotic War, the strong unity of our people like “Iron Fist” at the rear, the Victory engraved in history with golden letters, and the supreme moments of martyrdom.
At the end of the event, city schoolchildren performed an artistic composition dedicated to Memorial Day.
Later, the graves of martyrs were visited in El cemetery.
The participants of the event also visited the busts of national heroes Nofal Guliyev, Tahir Bagirov, Rafael Habibov, who died in the First Karabakh War, and commemorated their memories with respect. In front of the busts, the family members of the national heroes, the teachers of the schools where they studied, gave information about their lives and activities, and their bravery.
