In Colomiers, Nawel lives with her six children in unsanitary housing

Mold, rats… In Colomiers, this 37-year-old woman says she is going through hell. The social landlord ensures that the problem is recent and that the tenant has refused rehousing solutions.

A small tour of the owner is enough to take the measure of the insalubrity of the places. In the T4 apartment, on the ground floor, which Nawel Benkourech has occupied for 9 years, at 12 Allée du Tourmalet, in Colomiers, mold has invaded everything. The walls of the kitchen toilets are black with damp, like those of the bedrooms. “I condemned two and we only live in two rooms with my six children,” says Nawel. I’ve been talking about the problem for two years, but since they’re going to destroy these buildings, they don’t do anything. Frankly, when I arrived it was a nice apartment, but it has gone downhill. There are even rats passing through the kitchen behind the worktop”.

5 month old girl with heart disease

This 37-year-old mother is all the more worried that her youngest daughter, barely 5 months old, is seriously ill and is awaiting a third heart operation. “I have been offered rehousing in two other neighborhoods in En Jacca and Les Ramassiers, but they laugh at me, they don’t suit my situation. The first apartment is a T5 without garden or balcony for 450 € per month whereas I currently pay 410 € and the second costs 825 €, double that. I want to be relocated to a house. I am priority.

On the side of the social landlord, the company Altéal, it is confirmed that the Gascogne residence must be demolished which is planned for this summer in the urban renewal program of the Grand Val d’Aran, “Currently, the rehousing process concerns the last 67 dwellings, including that of Mrs. Benkorrech, specifies Altéal. the latter refused our proposals, but our rental stock on the Colomiers does not currently have a T6 pavilion available, it is moreover an extremely rare offer”.

The social landlord is also surprised that Nawel only reported a humidity problem on January 19, when a visit from a service provider in August did not reveal any particular problem, “We are immediately intervened to restore the VMC of the accommodation which had tripped”, defends Altéa, Obviously, the intervention did not solve the invasion of mold. And Nawel is expecting an appointment with a social worker next week. “Our relocation service contacted him on January 24 to offer him an interview at headquarters with the management, but. Ms. Benkorrech categorically refused this proposal, ”regrets Altéa, who also points to his brother’s aggressiveness towards his agents. We will still have to find a solution by this summer…
