In China, Nanjing Airport canceled more than 300 flights on Wednesday after nine cases of Covid-19 infection were confirmed among airport staff.

More than 100 flights were canceled on Tuesday, the airport said.

Mass vaccinations have been carried out in four areas next to the airport.

People who want to leave this city in eastern China with a population of eight million must show a negative result to the Covid-19 test.

Cases of infection have been identified through routine testing of airport staff. Infected now follow a quarantine regime.

Since the initial Covid-19 outbreak in early 2020, China has largely managed to control the spread of the virus, and there have been only a few local outbreaks since then.

The responsible services are currently fighting the number of adult cases of Covid-19 in Yunnan Province, which borders Myanmar, which was hit hard by the pandemic.

The most serious situation is in Dehon Prefecture, where 267 people have been hospitalized, Xinhua news agency reports.

The Chinese authorities have a strict “zero Covid” policy, and outbreaks are followed by mass testing, exit restrictions, contact tracing and quarantine.

There are also strict restrictions on people entering China. They must spend at least two weeks in quarantine centers.
