On the Third Advent Sunday, young pastor Aaron Musser appeared in robe, makeup and wearing a blonde wig in front of a group of children at St Luke’s Lutheran Church.

“Preaching in drag is a theological reflection on joy,” he explained.

Openly gay, Aaron Musser joined the order this summer and he regularly advocates inclusiveness messages on his social networks.

“I wasn’t sure how the outside world would treat me when they saw me this morning. Joy is hard to feel, it is vulnerable. But isn’t it so beautiful? ” the pastor expressed on Facebook.

St Luke’s Lutheran Church proudly shared the event and posted photos on their Facebook page.

The post elicited almost 200 comments and the reactions were mixed. The number of “love” and “anger” mentions were tied and the comment section was closed.
