In 2022, the Basket club castelneuvien from Châteauneuf-sur-Sarthe, delegated municipality of Hauts-d’Anjou (Maine-et-Loire) decided to embark on the Health basketball.
“We offer activities by adopting basketball gestures but with adapted balls and baskets”
Those supervised sessions are intended “for the elderly, to people returning from injuries, to people with a small handicap, from small pathologies… We work the motor skills, l’balance and others. »
These sessions began in September 2021 and eight people are registered, including two members of Ipolaïs (ex-Esat de la Joncheray).
“The first eight people are between 50 and 64 years old. »
Sessions take place between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The club wants to go further.
“We are going to apply for the higher Resolution label, which will allow us to work with the medical profession. A doctor can send someone to us on medical prescription. This type of device is not yet widely accepted, but it is necessary, because it has its place to help people in their health journey. We are going to go meet the professionals to explain to them. »
