In Chartres, the National Police relays the operation to fight against urban rodeos

Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, on Thursday May 12, asked the police and the gendarmes to intensify, this weekend, the controls on the axes frequented by the followers of urban rodeos and to proceed to the systematic seizure gear used. 700 control operations have thus been programmed throughout France, and in particular in Chartres.

Urban rodeos in Gallardon: a motorcycle seized and the driver fined

“Every year, when the fine weather arrives, we are faced with this problem”, explains the general commissioner Mathieu Bernier, departmental director of public security (DDSP) of Eure-et-Loir.

Systematic confiscation of vehicles

Who must mainly face two difficulties: “the interception of the perpetrators of these rodeos, who circulate on the handlebars of scooters, motorcycles or quads in defiance of the highway code; and the identification of the places where these devices are stored”.

“The perpetrators of wild rodeos risk up to a year in prison and a fine of €15,000,” recalls Yannis Bouzar, chief of staff to the prefect of Eure-et-Loir. “And the confiscation of vehicles is systematic. »

In the conurbation, these rodeos most often take place on avenue de Bretagne, in Mainvilliers, at Vieux-Puits, in Lucé, and at La Madeleine, in Chartres. And recently at Coudray where, again this Saturday, the municipal police were called to intervene.
