LOS ANGELES.- At least
two people died and four were injured
in a shooting that happened in a warehouse
from the Walmart company in California,
Several US media reported on Saturday.
The man opened fire with an “AR-type weapon” around 3.30 in the afternoon
at the Walmart distribution center south of Red Bluff,
as indicated by those in charge of emergency telecommunications to the Record-Searchlight newspaper.
Red Bluff cops shot the alleged attacker,
KHSL station said. It transpired that the man underwent surgery and,
so far, his health status is unknown.
Meanwhile, a witness quoted by a local newspaper claimed to have heard semi-automatic gunshots fired at the premises.
A company spokesperson told CNN that Walmart is aware of the situation and is collaborating with authorities investigating the incident, without giving further details.
Agents from the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office said the attacker circled the parking lot four times before crashing his vehicle into the building and opening fire with a semi-automatic long gun, deputy sheriff Phil Johnston told the newspaper.
He added that authorities have not yet determined whether this incident is related to another similar one that occurred earlier in the same day and within the nearby town of Shingletown, in California, in which there were three deaths. “It is possible, but we have not confirmed it, ” Johnston said.
Redd Bluff is a city of about 14,000 inhabitants, located about 210 km north of Sacramento, California.
