In Bulgaria, capitalism is wild, it exploits people! – 2024-09-04 17:08:04

/ world today news/ New role of the state in the economy, otherwise we will continue to be on our knees before external factors.
The only protest against me as a minister was that of the “millionaires” from the renewable energy sector

“In Bulgaria, capitalism is wild, it exploits the people, and the state at any moment is faced with the danger that some foreign investor will withdraw their capital, close their factories, and the state will be brought to its knees,” he said on the air of the morning block of TV 7 Dragomir Stoynev, deputy chairman of the BSP.

Stoynev announced that he is working on a bill for state-owned enterprises, which will be the first step of the policy to save and stabilize the national capital.

“I am preparing a bill that I suppose will stir up spirits, but it will be a step to make our economy less dependent on external factors. A small country like Bulgaria is hostage to private capital, which can very quickly be withdrawn and the country brought to its knees. The truth is not in nationalization, but in state-owned enterprises,” Stoynev said. According to him, the state can create profitable structures in key sectors that are professionally managed and operate on a market basis. They can be public, go public. He recalled that globally by 2010 there was not a single state-owned company in the top 10 large enterprises, but now there are already five.

“State-owned enterprises have a set goal, they earn and the dividend stays here in the country. We are not talking about distortion of competition, but why in sectors such as telecommunications, for example, should there not be a state operator. Why not create a Bulgarian agricultural holding, with the task of helping to unify Bulgarian agricultural producers with the main goal of taking them to foreign markets?” Stoynev said.

I am ashamed that we do not have national capital to stimulate the economy, small and medium-sized enterprises, we do not have a state to protect workers. According to him, the future of the left is to propose a new economic path.

“Everyone makes excuses for the past, no one talks about the future. For me, the direction is the new role of the state in the economy. We really need to attract private capital, European funds must be absorbed, but in the end there must also be a state policy and the role of the state must be key,” said Stoynev.

“This party has a leader, of course the leader nominates, and the National Assembly votes on his proposals”, this is Stoynev’s answer to the question of who nominated Mikhail Mikov to be the Speaker of the National Assembly. To a question about who the Oresharski cabinet appointed, Stoynev answered : “He was voted by the BSP National Council. The attacks are aimed at weakening the BSP. I was offered to be part of the cabinet by the leader of the BSP Sergey Stanishev and by the Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski. The condition was to bring order to the energy sector and to stop serving private interests and for the state to return its place in the energy sector”.

“During my administration, there was not a single protest by workers or by an enterprise. Yes, there was only one protest – the millionaires’ protest. That is, RES producers were on strike in front of the ministry. The millionaires were unhappy. Remember, there was a desire to impose a 20% tax on RES and President Plevnenliev appealed to the Constitutional Court to support RES producers and that tax was dropped. Now, however, there must be actions by Mrs. Temenuzka Petkova in this direction as well”, said Stoynev.

According to him, the real achievement of the renegotiation of the contracts with the American power plants is zero, since NEK cannot find BGN 600 million and this will not actually activate them. Even if it does, the deal won’t help the cost of electricity.

Stoynev also recalled the words of Deputy Prime Minister Rumyana Bachvarova that the American visits to Bulgaria are due to the fact that Boyko Borisov stopped 3 large Russian projects – one gas, one nuclear and one oil pipeline, and this is a sign of political identity.

“I already answered the questions posed before the BSP National Council last year, I will gladly answer them again.” I welded South Stream as a folder in a drawer, and we got there to start building it. While I was a minister, absolutely nothing was stopped. Westinghouse – this project has been in the works since 2008. Even if we extend the life of reactor 5 and 6 of the Kozloduy NPP, after 20 years if there is no new reactor there, we will cut another owned enterprise to scrap. Unfortunately, it will be the Kozloduy NPP,” said Stoynev.
