In Angoulême, there is always something going on around the corner. So that you miss nothing or almost nothing, Actu Charente brings together for you every Friday the little daily information.
The RN 10 and the RN 141 at the heart of the debates
The issues surrounding safety on Charente’s national roads were omnipresent this week.
While several motorists have pointed out the dangerous behavior of truckers on these “overcrowded” roads, the problem seems to be deeper.
In recent years, the number of accidents has increased and the public authorities seem unwilling to take any decisions on this subject. The senator of Charente, Nicole Bonnefoy, has therefore once again sounded the alarm by denouncing these incivilities to the government.
Despite its multiple reminders and several amendments tabled, parliamentarians are ostrich.
Only the prefect of the department imposed a limit on the maximum authorized speed and the ban on overtaking for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes on the RN 141 between Etagnac and Angoulême in both directions of traffic in the coming days.
The return of the citizens’ rally
After a 2020 edition canceled due to the health crisis, the citizens’ rally is making its big comeback on the site of the Broche military camp in Dirac.
For the occasion, 130 high school students from 15 public, private and agricultural high schools in Charente will take part in this event and will be called upon “to make a circuit marked out by 18 workshops” on Wednesday 13 October.
The objective will be “to promote good citizenship, the spirit of defense, the duty of memory, the army-nation bond and the taste for team effort among the young people of the department”, according to the prefecture.
Integration week for newcomers
From October 11 to 15, 2021, the week for the integration of newcomers sets the tone in the department.
Solidarity actions, organized by the prefecture, which will allow beneficiaries of international protection (refugees or beneficiaries of subsidiary protection) to finally be able to see the end of the tunnel.
This week therefore aims to “promote local initiatives and mechanisms offering support towards access to rights, socio-professional integration and housing for beneficiaries of international protection following a request for asylum and the signing of a republican integration contract, ”according to the prefect of Charente.
A hero like no other
INXS, the Belgian Malinois shepherd of the dog team of the Charente gendarmerie group received last Tuesday one of the most beautiful distinctions awarded to French gendarmes: the gold medal for national defense.
This award honors not only his acts of bravery accomplished during his career in the gendarmerie, but also his effectiveness in the field.
As a reminder, the Malinois and his dog handler, Warrant Officer Frédéric Gaillard, found around thirty people missing.
