The internship week will be an opportunity for new students to discover how lecture hall courses are conducted in the law faculty premises. “It will also allow us to cover important concepts for September’s courses with the help of tutors, second-year students who know how to take the time to explain things well. This allows us to make the transition between high school and the PASS (Specific Health Access Course) and LAS (Health Access License) courses. A big step to take,” reveals Enora le Saout, the new president of Tutorat Santé Brestois.
2 Tips on the method
After a presentation of general methodology aimed at presenting different ways of working, 1.5-hour sessions will be offered in small groups of fifteen people. “Second-year students will tell in detail how they managed their first year,” explains the president. “It is not easy to give advice, as the working method is such a personal matter,” continues Maxime Leemans, vice-president of Tutorat Santé Brestois in charge of courses and the website. “The methodology is all the more specific to each individual since some students arrive after having completed a degree in other fields,” recalls Madeline Hamonou, secretary of Tutorat Santé Brestois. “We will nevertheless try to present to them as many methods as possible that have proven effective,” promises Maxime Leemans.
3Discover the campus and student life
Beyond the academic aspect, the internship week will also be a time dedicated to integration and well-being. Students will discover important places on campus, such as university restaurants, and will participate in different activities to meet each other. New this year: an orientation-reorientation time will also be set up, with a discovery of the professions of medicine, midwifery, dentistry, pharmacy, rehabilitation professions (MMOPMR) accessible after a PASS or a LAS. “The goal is for them to arrive less stressed at the start of the school year, and to remain calm throughout the year thanks to tutoring, offered two to three times a week,” recalls Madeline Hamonou.
4 Reassure parents
When their children start higher education, parents sometimes seem more stressed than their offspring. This is why the Tutoring has set up a time dedicated to them, on Saturday, August 24 at 10 a.m., at the Faculty of Medicine. Parents of office members will be present to answer their questions. “We try to bring together families with as many different situations as possible, knowing that some students live at home all year, while others have their own apartment,” recalls Maxime Leemans.
5 For equal opportunities
“Students come from all over Brittany and even further afield. It is therefore important to take into account all special cases,” insists Madeline Hamonou. “The entire course is free and accessible to everyone, without registration,” concludes Enora Le Saout. “We thus wish to re-establish a certain equality of opportunity, so that everyone has the tools to succeed.”
