Bremen (dpa / lni) – According to the Senate, the state of Bremen was the first state to vaccinate more than half of its population against Corona. The health department announced that the 50 percent mark was exceeded with the vaccinations on Tuesday. In addition, a quarter of all Bremen residents have already received full vaccination protection with a second vaccination. “These are two very, very important milestones in the fight against the pandemic,” said Mayor Andreas Bovenschulte (SPD).

The Robert Koch Institute gave 49.9 percent of first vaccinations for Bremen for Tuesday morning (10:05 a.m.), followed by Saarland with 49.1 percent. Among the fully vaccinated, Saarland was ahead with 25.8 percent, ahead of Bremen with 25.0 percent. However, the numbers still reflect the status of Monday.

“This enabled us to quickly reach and protect the vulnerable groups of people in Bremen,” said Health Senator Claudia Bernhard (left). “We have always adhered to the prioritization of vaccinations and continue to do so.”

The core of the vaccination success in the smallest federal state is a large vaccination center in the city of Bremen, in which the health authority, aid organizations and industry work together. “We do not want to and we must not let up now and will continue to vaccinate every single dose in the future as quickly as possible,” said Bovenschulte.
