In Brazil, more than half a million Covid-19-related deaths occur worldwide

The number of Covid-19-related deaths in Brazil has exceeded half a million, the Ministry of Health said on Saturday.

Brazil is now the second country in the world to surpass pandemic deaths alongside the United States. In the United States, the figure is now almost 602,000.

More than 17.8 million Brazilians have been confirmed to be infected with the Covid-19 virus, but some 800,000 new cases of coronavirus have been reported every day recently.

About 30% of Brazilians have received the first vaccine of Covid-19, and about 11% have been fully vaccinated.

The far-right government of President Jaira Bolsonari has expressed skepticism about the seriousness of the pandemic since its inception, as well as opposed the introduction of restrictions, warning of the devastating effects on the economy.

Until relatively recently, Bolsonaru was skeptical about vaccination.

At the same time, a parliamentary commission is currently investigating the government’s pandemic crisis policy.

On Saturday, protests against the Bolsonaru pandemic policy took place in several Brazilian cities.
