The heart of three-time world champion Pele stopped in the 83rd year. The ex-footballer spent the last days of his life in the Albert Einstein clinic, whose doctors fought to the last to save the only Brazilian.
“The Albert Einstein Clinic bitterly confirms the news of the death of Pele, recorded on December 29 at 15:27 (20:27 Kiev time. – approx. Sport.ua) due to multiple organ failure as a result of the negative dynamics of cancer of the rectum and clinical condition [пациента]”, – stated in the official statement of the medical institution.
Pelé is notable for being the only three-time world champion in history as a player (1958, 1962, 1970).
It was previously reported that Pele’s daughter – 55-year-old Keli Cristina Nascimento – on her Instagram posted probably the last photo from the hospital roomwhere his legendary father spent his last days.
