Elena is 3 years old. She should have recited it first Back to school in this month of September, in kindergarten, in his hometown of Brandivy (Morbihan). Yet she is stayed at homewell surrounded by her parents, Lizia Le Ray and Vincent Hérisson.
The couple has in fact asked the National Inspectorate for Education to do so home school. A choice weighted on the basis of what they consider “a life project”.
“It’s a life project”
In fact, we have nothing against the educational institution. We do not have the skills of a teacher and we will not teach him to read or write. Or maybe a little. But we didn’t want to send Héléna to school so quickly.
The girl does not suffer from any handicap, nor from any particularity. “No, we just want you to be able to do that go at your own pace. For example, it is not yet clean. At school, among about thirty children, the teachers will have no choice but to force her a little. ”
It must be said that in the couple’s family other members have already tried the experience. Lizia and Vincent therefore protected themselves with multiple advice.
Only for two years
Why their Life project it’s not homeschooling all the time. “We just asked authorization for 2 years. Later, he can go back to the big section.
The couple also created theirs hours. Lizia, who has just given birth to a baby boy (one and a half months), will return to work part-time in November. Vincent, a self-employed roofer, will one day allow himself to be alongside Héléna. “And for her socialization, he will go to the nanny for a day to live with other children.”
Both have also decided to rely on the Montessori pedagogy “which takes more into account the rhythm of the child “This is the main reason why the couple granted the Inspectorate to have this authorization.
A more drastic law
Entered into force on September 1, 2022, the new home education law now requires parents to obtain authorization from the school inspectorate for their child’s home education.
The procedure is therefore now much more drastic and the reasons more limited.
You can create a file:
– the health or disability of the child;
– The practice of intensive sporting or artistic activities;
– Homelessness of the family in France or the geographical distance from any public school;
– The existence of a specific situation of the child which motivates the educational project.
Furthermore, the law provided for a transitional regime for children already raised in the family before the entry into force of the new system.

I then refuse to appeal
“In fact, in the beginning, we were refused. Without really any explanation. Lizia then turned to an association “Education for freedom” in order to lodge a (more legal) appeal which allowed him to obtain the validation of his file.
Because the law has changed on that home education (read in the box). More drastically, it is denounced by some groups of parents who believe this is an attack on this freedom of choice.
Lizia and Vincent will be able to see their little Héléna grow up. “It’s also a way for both of us, who work, to have more fun with our son.” A choice that, if it proves effective, will be renewed for little Noah when he is old enough to go to school.
