TRENTO. The expensive bill drives the price lists of coffee consumed at the bar crazy. This was reported by Codacons, which carried out a study on the trend of the average prices of the classic cup of espresso in the various Italian cities, to verify how the expensive bill has influenced the price lists charged to the public.
According to the latest official data from Mise, the record price of espresso is reached in Bolzano, where a coffee consumed at the bar costs an average of 1.23 euros, analyzes the Codacons.
In second place in the standings, with an average of € 1.20, are Rovigo and Ravenna. Vicenza, Trento and Ferrara follow at 1.19 euros.
As many as 25 cities in our country have an average price of coffee above 1.10 euros. And so, while Istat records an annual inflation for the “restaurants and bars” sector of + 3.8% in March, in the comparison between the pre-rise in bills (September 2021) and February 2022, it turns out that the highest increase in public price lists was recorded in Pescara, where the average price of espresso at the bar went from 1 euro to 1.12 euro, with an increase of + 12%. Alexandria (+ 11.3%, from 1.06 to 1.18 euros) and Ravenna (+ 9%, from 1.10 to 1.20 euros) follow. The only city that records a decrease is Trento (from 1.22 to 1.19 euros, -2.5%).
