The city of Berlin no longer politely asks its residents to wear a mouth mask. Instead, they opt for an eye-catching campaign.

In the local newspapers there was a striking advertisement from the Berlin city council last week. A large photo of an elderly woman raising her middle finger with the words, “One finger flick for all those without a mask: we obey the corona rules.”
“We wanted to use a language that suits the Berlin character and that emphasizes the seriousness of the situation. And they succeeded, ”a representative from Visit Berlin, the agency that developed the ad, told The Guardian.
Although not everyone is so happy with the new campaign. Kai Wegner, the CDU’s local party leader, said, “The situation is too serious for stupid jokes.” And the secretary general of the liberal party FDP also found the campaign “neither funny nor unconventional, but arrogant and insulting.”
Visit Berlin indicates that it does not currently intend to use the photo again.
