In Bègles, Bouillargues almost restart a new season

Women’s D2 / Late match of the 2nd day.

Since last September, the players of Bouillargues have undergone more PCR tests in the laboratory than handball in the field and in the face of adversity. “We are in our 19th since the beginning”, advance, on this subject, Delphine Cendre, the coach.

A 19th PCR test thus passed successfully, this Wednesday, and which will finally allow the Gardoises to play their… third D2 match of the season, the first for nearly three months and the victory in Gard, against Vaulx-en- Velin (31-28), on October 24. “With such a long cut, it was hard to keep the girls motivated, concedes the technician. We cut a fortnight for the end of year celebrations and started again on January 3. “

Negative tests before each match

Bouillargues has never seemed so close to playing a handball match in competition. D-day is scheduled for Bègles, this Saturday, with a late match for the second day. But to play in Gironde, Chloé Roelandt and his family will have to step up. To be in good standing, all the players had to undergo an EKG and a stress test, explains Cendre. And, from now on, before each match, the visiting team must present the last negative Covid tests to the referring team’s doctor.

It will then be time to talk about the game again. The intensity of a match, the Gardoises have been deprived of for too long. Also, before attacking a series of nine meetings … in two months, they are looking for lost sensations.

“We also played a friendly match (2×30’) last Saturday against the young people from the Usam training center who can also train, reminds the coach. The players were thus able to be put in a match situation and faced with physical opposition.

Three consecutive trips in February

It is therefore in Bègles that Bouillargues (re) goes on a mission in his quest for a play-off (read below). “It’s almost like restarting a new season”, points out Delphine Cendre. In February, the Gardoises will also have to negotiate three consecutive trips (Cannes, Vaulx-en-Velin, Clermont). “When you have a game to play on the weekend, it’s always easier to motivate yourself in training the week before”, notes the technician.

Weaned from competition for so long, there is little doubt, however, of the motivation of the Bouillarguaises when it comes time to get back to it.

Bouillargues (4th, 2 pts, 2 matches played) travels to Bègles (3rd, 7 pts, 3 md) this Saturday at 6 p.m. The group: De La Torre, Plée (left); Roelandt, Heintzmann, Vandevoorde, Rival, Hassanaly, Godel, Renault, Chebbah, Piq, Lachaize, Janackovic.
The play-off formula has changed: the 1st will play the 4th in two-way matches and the 2nd will face the 3rd. Classification matches (one match) will follow for places 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8.
