The Lebanese place their hopes on the stage of the new year, and seek comfort and reassurance after the pain and suffering that accompanied their long days during the year which spends its last hours, accompanied by crises that have upset the balance of their lives and forced them to make choices that were not in their calculations.
The Bekaa have been suffering from security chaos for years, which worsened at the beginning of the year, amid constant requests to the state to extend its authority and protect them from the evil of gangs and chaos. More than one incident occurred in different time periods, whether through shootings of institutions with the intent of enforcing brotherhood, or attempted robbery and kidnapping for ransom, or settling scores and revenge, so that voices were raised again, demanding that the military and security forces tighten their grip on the region after people detoured to talk about self-security to protect themselves and their property.
Various challenges, hardships and rewards await the army and security forces in the year 2022, especially holding parliamentary elections, organizing the international Baalbek festivals, fighting smuggling at illegal crossing points, safeguarding the security of borders and the strengthening of military deployment on them, including the fight against drug trafficking and smuggling. And on the eve of the May elections, concern for security was the Bekaa’s main concern, after the “Shia duo” called on the security forces to monitor security in the southern suburbs, raising their voices for reciprocity in Bekaa and lifting the cover for those who have disturbed security in the region. The elections were held safely and quietly, so much so that two young men from the family of Al-Rifai and Bayan, in a crime that shook the city of Baalbek between the tension and the growing level of congestion and the fear of enlarging the problem and the situation reaching a dangerous stage which can lead to unforeseen consequences.
Firmly and resolutely, and as a way to prosecute drug dealers and promoters, the Lebanese Army began its security campaign in the region a few days after the crime and raiding operations were concentrated in the Al-Sharawneh neighborhood, particularly in the house of “Abu Silah”. complainant.
The army’s insistence on restoring security to the region after the long suffering of its people, and despite shortcomings such as falling casualties due to looting incidents, the most notable of which are two citizens of Arsal, as well as kidnappings and shootings, all this did not stop the army from completing what it had started, and with it the Bekaaites began to seek safety, then the problems eased As the days went by due to the military measures taken, the festival season passed successfully, and most of the people wanted across the border became fugitives from prosecution.
Despite the difficult conditions of the army and security forces, the wanted raids continued throughout the summer in various regions, and were welcomed by citizens who raised banners thanking the army leadership for enforcing security and security in Baalbek-Hermel.
Although the army has taken the necessary measures in recent years to prosecute those who violated security, the Bekaaites have not enjoyed the calm and comfort they have enjoyed this year, so much so that it was possible to say “it was a year of security par excellence in Baalbek Hermel” along with the Army’s follow-up of its border procedures, where Army Commander General Joseph Aoun opened a network of roads in the summertime linking the military centers of al-Qaa and Ras Baalbek, and the leadership completed the strategy of connecting military centers to the borders and paving roads in the suburbs to facilitate the movement of vehicles and personnel. Yesterday the road was opened by the Prophet Isbat-Al-Tallaja in the extreme eastern border, where the army is stationed from Maaraboun to Arsal and up to To Hermel, to tighten the grip on the interior and on the borders together, and create security in the hearts of the citizens.
