In Austria, 106 people have the corona virus

The most recent case concerns the federal state of Styria, where the case of an employee of the regional hospital in Hartberg became known. She is said to have had contact with 23 patients.

In Austria, 106 people are currently suffering from the corona virus. Recently, the case of an employee of the regional hospital in Hartberg, who was tested positive for the corona virus, became known.

As the Styrian government announced on Sunday evening, it had contact with 23 patients, including twelve people who would continue to receive inpatient care at the Hartberg Regional Hospital. Eleven people are at home.

The employee in the internal department had first symptoms after a stay abroad after she had already returned to the LKH. Because she also had contact with colleagues, 34 employees of the LKH Hartberg will spend two weeks in private isolation. The surgery and gynecology departments remain open for acute care because it can be excluded that the woman has had contact with the staff there.

With the disease “a Styrian hospital is also directly affected for the first time,” said health minister Juliane Bogner-Strauß (ÖVP). Since plans had already been drawn up for this case, “the correct and necessary measures could be taken quickly”. Other Styrian hospitals or the nearby Burgenland LKH Oberwart are available for medical care in the region, the state said.

Further measures announced

In the ORF “press hour” on Sunday named Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) as a goal to delay the spread of the coronavirus until the end of the current flu wave. Among other things, he hinted at the temporary closure of schools and kindergartens as a measure.
