The Prime Minister of New South Wales, Dominic Perotte, informed that the order and warning for evacuation was given to 32 thousand residents of the state and its administrative center in Sydney.
People are also advised to avoid traveling without a valid reason, including by public transport. Some roads are already under water, while others are at risk of flash flooding.
Meanwhile, forecasters said rainfall in some areas reached almost 300 millimeters over the weekend, and up to 120 millimeters could fall in Sydney on Monday. The total amount of precipitation in the city has already exceeded half of the annual norm, and many rivers and reservoirs have burst their banks.
The situation is dire, as this is the fourth flood in the region in three months.
