In Auray, with Réha’Breizh “we learn to no longer suffer from illness”

Adeline suffers from spondylitis and fibromyalgia. An illness diagnosed in 2008 which, for years, has caused her to suffer from significant pain.

To regain some independence from her illness, the Pluvignoise learned to give herself the two injections that her treatment provides, among other things. “This allows us not to depend on a nurse.” More autonomy gained also thanks to the Réha’Breizh therapeutic education program introduced to him by a dietitian.

“Take the reins of your health”

“It brought me a lot in terms of exchanges with the other people in the group and the caregivers who lead the sessions. Between patients, we can share our tips to gain some distance from the disease. We learn to no longer endure and to take the reins of our health so as not to find ourselves trapped in it,” explains Adeline. The program being adapted to each profile, for other people, the group will be an opportunity to accept the need to listen to each other more.

An education which also reassured Adeline in the need to do physical activity, “for the mind”.

An experience that she shares with Carole Minier who also suffers from fibromyalgia. “I am following a course of care at the Pratel hospital; it is focused on the physical. It was a friend who introduced me to the Réha Breizh workshops. “Participating in it was a trigger for me in the importance of taking control of your health.”

“I try to walk every day”

Carole, who was not at all sporty, discovered the benefits of physical activity. “Even if, at times, it is difficult and, morally, you have to push yourself, I try to walk every day.” The two forty-year-olds who met during the Réha’Breizh sessions support each other and regularly walk together. “It’s not always easy to keep the rituals once the program is over. Hence the importance of maintaining contact with another person,” says Carole.

“The program gives us a toolbox from which to draw depending on the needs and the days; It’s up to us to be tenacious and hang on. I never know how my days will go,” explains the Alréenne. “Therapeutic education also teaches us to accept that solutions may not always work.”
