In Audierne, the Ar Zénith exhibits itself in maritime affairs – Audierne

Tuesday, the members of the Audierne branch of the friendly France Libre Ar Zénith de Saint-Malo have installed the exhibition on the history of the Ar Zénith in the maritime affairs room. “On June 18, 1944, 21 young people from Audierne and Cape Town accompanied Jacques Le Gall (the last survivor of this period), that is to say 22 embarked from Audierne to join General de Gaulle in England, aboard the Ar -Zenith; boat that was previously used to deliver mail to the Ile de Sein ”, begins Jean-Paul Coatmeur, vice-president of the Audiernaise branch.

He continues: “the boat took part in the war in England. The crew disembarked and carried out other Free France missions. The boat will be armed by the English to be used for the transport of ammunition on the English coasts. When the war is over, the crew takes the boat back to Audierne ”, comments Jean-Paul Coatmeur, vice-president of the Audiernaise branch.
