In the Kankuamo Native Reserve, located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the jurisdiction of Valledupar, the Special Jurisdiction for Peace, and the indigenous authorities met to honor the memory of two victims of the conflict: the little Wiwa Nohemí Esther Pacheco Sabatá and his partner, the young Kankuamo Hermes Enrique Carrillo Arias.
In addition, an Arbitration Renewal Hearing was held, led by the Costa Caribe sub-chamber, of the JEP Legal Situations Interpretation Chamber, led by Judge José Miller Hormiga, with Judge Claudia Saldaña with him.
On behalf of the indigenous authorities, Jaime Arias, from the Kankuamo governing council, and Pedro Loperena, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Wiwa People, were present.
The effort was aimed at recreating how Nohemí and Hermes were murdered and falsely presented as guerrillas and alleged combat casualties near the sector known as ‘La Y’ de El Pontón, in the province of Atánquez, in the early morning of February 9, 2005.
According to the legal evidence recorded by the JEP, members of two plates of Battalion No 2 ‘La Popa’ participated in the commission of these crimes, and ten of them appeared in this campaign.
They are Ronal Enrique Acuña Díaz, Analdo Enrique Fuentes Estrada, Emel Emiro Almanza Meza, Fredis Alberto Díaz Romero, Miguel Ángel Molina Díaz, Luis Manuel Brito Camarillo, Richard Alberto Campo Tonso, Ómar Eduardo Vaquiro Benrítez, Deimerez Martír and Sera Marden.
“One of the goals (in this place) is to bring about legal pluralism with the possibility that justice systems can sit down to seek common goals,” said Judge Hormiga at the hearing center in Cesar.

The tour started in the small town of El Mojao, where the stagecoach was installed. The first stop was at the property of Mr. Hermes Carrillo, father of Hermes. There, the victim had built a couch to stay with Nohemí, who was pregnant. Early in the morning on February 9, the soldiers entered and took them away.
From there, they walked along several paths until they climbed a mountain and reached a part of the road that connects to the town of El Pontón, near the Atánquez area, where the soldiers shot the victims and combat simulation.
To finish the tour, the participants arrived at ‘Kakatukwa’, the Atánquez football field, where the bodies of the victims were picked up by a military helicopter on the day of the events. There, with the support of Traditional Native Authorities, they expressed their regret again.
