In the Chinese county of Anxin, in the Hebei province, about a hundred km from the capital Beijing, all the approximately 400 thousand inhabitants have been put in isolation after 18 new cases of coronavirus infection had been identified in the past two weeks.
The rules of physical distance provide that only workers in the basic necessities sectors can leave the house. For everyone else, only one outing per day is allowed for one family member. Anxin County is not as densely populated as the major Chinese metropolitan centers and according to health authorities, the blockade should stop the spread of the infection and avoid a second wave.
Beijing health authorities last June 16 they had decided to cancel more than 1,200 flights to and from the capital after the cases of the new outbreak in the city had reached 137. In addition to the flights, rail transport had also been reduced at least until 9 July. Kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and universities had been closed. Sports activities were also interrupted and gyms and swimming pools closed.
