In Angola, they discovered the largest pink diamond in 300 years

The stone was named Lulo Rose after the mine where it was mined, the Australian company Lucapa Diamond Company, which owns the mine, announced. Diamonds of exceptional quality have been mined in the Lulo mine in the past.

The pink gem is the fifth largest found in the Lulo Rose mine. According to Lucapa, 27 diamonds weighing at least 100 carats come from it.

The Lulo Rose stone will be sold by the Angolan diamond trading company Sodiam. Angolské doly ranks among the ten largest producers of diamonds.

The stone was named after the mine where it was found.

Although the pink diamond found is large, clear diamonds of much greater weight have already been found.

The largest of them is the Cullinan colorless diamond from South Africa. It was mined in 1905 and weighed 3106 carats (621 grams). The British King Edward VII, who acquired it, had it split into several pieces and polished. The largest piece – Cullinan I – weighed 530.4 carats and was set in the scepter. The second part – Cullinan II – is in the British royal crown.
