Recently, they raised just over a million euros from business leaders specializing in board sports and the industry. “Currently, we release 30 boards a day. The idea is to accelerate funding to produce several thousand in the years to come. Now that we have worked on the reliability and performance of our boards, we want to double the production rate”, explains Sylvain Fleury, 26, one of the two co-founders of Wyve surfboards.
Export their model internationally
The two entrepreneurs, engineers graduated from the Ecole Centrale de Lyon for one and from the National School of Advanced Techniques of the Polytechnic Institute of Paris for the other, want to continue manufacturing locally. “We make the boards with 3D printers and produce from A to Z in our workshop, continues Sylvain Fleury. Bioplastic is at the heart of our board, and to continue to develop it, it has to be super efficient. Surfing is now present at the Olympic Games, it is becoming more professional, the issue of performance is therefore important. The motto of the young start-up: maximize performance while minimizing the impact on the environment.
The two entrepreneurs also want to export their model abroad to Portugal and the United States, but always keeping “workshops as close as possible to the surfer community, our trademark, to develop our products”.
