The 4,700 m² training center for metallurgy trades required an investment of 11.4 million euros, consisting of 20 rooms and a Fab’Zone.
The inauguration took place on Saturday 3 December, with the participation of a top level athlete, Camille Lacourt, five times world and European swimming champion. The 37-year-old swimmer spoke to share his experience on the notions of performance, excellence, precision of movement. An intervention that did not leave indifferent the world of professional training gathered in the new training center of Fab’Academy of the training center UIMM, in Angers (Maine-et-Loire). A project that required an investment of 11.4 million euros.
With its brand new premises on the Pierre-Cointreau campus in Angers, this place of learning totals, on two levels, a surface area of 4,700 m², including 2,200 m² of technical platforms distributed in spaces dedicated to industrial maintenance, machining (turning and milling) , boiler-welding, e “human and industrial performance”we like to report to the UIMM, the Union of Metallurgical Industries and Crafts.
“As close as possible to the needs of the sector”
“Through this new center, we are positioning ourselves even closer to the needs of French industry and, of course, closer to the needs of the industrialists of Maine-et-Loire”said Patrice Berthe, president of the Fab’Academy-UIMM training center in Pays de la Loire and CEO of ABC Pliage.
The center houses 20 training rooms, a Fab’Zone equipped with 3D printers, 3D scanners and 3D modeling software. “A place focused on innovation, a leader in technical training, the Fab’Academy is at the heart of the industrial system”testified, in turn, Céline Liard, project director at the UIMM training center.
Initiated by the federation of metallurgical employers, this project marks, according to her, the establishment of a new approach to continuous learning and training for trainees and employees in the industrial sector.

Four new BTS
In addition to traditional training in machining, boilermaking, welding, maintenance and industrial performance, four new BTS are offered at the Fab’Academy: Industrial Product Design, Design and Manufacturing in Industrial Boilermaking, Electrical Engineering (opening in 2023) and IT Services for organizations, optional infrastructure solutions, systems and networks (2023).
