Recently many individual errors
They had already won 28:22 against Bregenz and recently held their own in Balingen (25:29). “Of course we also tried out a few things that we wouldn’t do in league play,” said the EHF master coach, looking at the two games in Vorarlberg. The high number of individual errors was surprising, however. Baricelli says: “We need patience. We really didn’t have a good day against Hard, but we were also up against a good opponent.” After a few days off before the next match against Pfadi Winterthur, he is sure that the legs, which have been heavy recently, are fresh again after the high level of exertion – as are the heads.
Present yourself well to your fans
The tests against the top Swiss club, which have been a tradition for several years, are “always good, close games with decisions made in the last few minutes,” says Baricelli. One week before the first competitive game in the DHB Cup against Dresden (24 August, 8 p.m., in Allensbach), his team can get used to the atmosphere in the Riesenberg sports hall and show their own fans for the first time. Coaches and players are looking forward to this and want to put on a good show. “Our fans always give us extra energy. We want to show them that we leave everything on the pitch,” says the 28-year-old, who also wants to advertise the cup game the following week at the same venue.
