A PCR test is still mandatory for travelers arriving in Corsica. But now checks are systematic for passengers from Nice, Marseille and Toulon. Problem: the border police are facing an increase in fraudulent tests.

On the tarmac at Ajaccio airport this Sunday, February 21, a plane has just landed. And it is now the rule, on each flight from Nice and Marseille, each passenger must present a negative PCR test on departure but also on arrival in Corsica.
But the document poses a problem. Border police are seeing an increase in fraudulent certificates. Because with the help of a simple computer retouch, the passenger can modify the date, time or even the result of the test in order to be able to board.
Worse still, some documents would be issued without even having passed the test. As a passenger from Marseille explains: “We were offered to have a test without the analysis. There is a business around it.“
Rebound of the epidemic in the Alpes-Maritimes
If these flights are controlled, it is also because in the Alpes-Maritimes, the epidemic is experiencing a major rebound. The visit of the Minister of Health, Olivier Veran, Saturday in Nice, marks the urgency of the situation and for the prefect of Haute-Corse to intensify surveillance. “These people can present a danger to the population. This situation has led us to strengthen and refine controls“, declares François Ravier.
But how to fight this phenomenon? Several avenues are currently being studied by the government to standardize and authenticate these documents. The use of a QR Code, with dematerialized information is considered.
