Himedik.com – Level measuring tool oxygen or oximeter lately much hunted in Indonesia. The reason is that a practical pulse oximeter can help monitor the oxygen levels of Covid-19 patients, which are in abundance in Indonesia.

Oximeters that are widely bought up cause scarcity and prices have gone up insanely. Finally, many people are turning to oximeter application available on the App Store.

Though according to News 18, such applications should not be downloaded. Because besides being useless for checking oxygen levels, the application is even suspected of taking data from your fingerprint scan.

In this case, the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India posted about the threat to the world of the oximeter application through a Twitter account. They urge users not to fall for apps that promise to monitor oxygen levels on their phones.

Fraudulent apps like the ones mentioned here may often be vehicles for malware, spyware and other forms of malicious code and tools that can infect your device.

Users should remain aware of the fact that for the oximeter to work, any device requires a built-in physical SpO2 blood oxygen sensor.

Simultaneously, even reading heart rate requires a physical heart rate sensor, and smartphones available in the market today don’t have both.

Therefore, applications that promise to read oxygen levels and heart rate using the phone’s fingerprint sensor do not offer accurate services and tend to be dangerous.

According to the Indian Ministry, malicious apps like this fake oximeter app may just be a vehicle for cyber espionage tactics.

Those interested in monitoring their blood oxygen levels are advised to purchase an actual oximeter from any medical store or online, not through an app.
