  • A man went shopping in Aarburg AG with an assault rifle on Saturday
  • This terrified passers-by
  • The action triggered a large police operation

Last Saturday, an Aargauer observed how an armed man entered the branch in Aarburg AG. The weapon that the Denner customer had put on was a real Kalashnikov, as reported by “Tele M1”. The observer Blerim Ejupi immediately alerted the police when he saw the armed man. Ejupi watched the gun man in the coop for twelve minutes and kept on the phone with the police. The report finally led to a large deployment of the Aargau police. When the man, together with Kalashnikov, wanted to leave the shop, the police arrested him under official weapons.

Bernhard Graser, media spokesman for the cantonal police in Aargau, confirms: “It was actually a real Kalashnikov.” However, the man had no magazine on him and the gun was not loaded. Graser: “It turned out that the man had bought the gun legally, without criminal intentions.” During the subsequent house search of the Kalashnikov porter, nothing incriminating was found.

No stopover with a gun in your luggage

However, the armed shopping tour may still have legal consequences, the public prosecutor has now taken over the case. Because: “If you’re on the go with a weapon, you should carry it concealed,” says police spokesman Graser. A weapon license is only issued very rarely. In addition, you should travel directly from point A to B without stopping.

The man from Aarburg has since been released. Nevertheless, he may have to answer for a violation of the weapons law.
