The corona numbers in Germany continue to rise. In a weekly comparison, the Robert Koch Institute reports an increase of 16,000 new infections, and the seven-day incidence is also increasing. Experts even assume a high number of cases that are not recorded in the RKI data.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has reported an increase in the nationwide seven-day incidence for the fifth day in a row. The RKI gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Monday morning as 1259.2. For comparison: the day before the value was 1231.1. A week ago, the nationwide incidence was 1238.2 (previous month: 1426.0). The health authorities in Germany reported 78,428 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. This is evident from numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5 a.m. A week ago there were 62,349 infections. However, there are no figures from Brandenburg. According to the RKI dashboard, the state is currently not reporting. A good 5,000 new infections were recorded in Brandenburg last Monday.
Experts assume a high number of cases that are not recorded in the RKI data. One reason is the limited capacity of health authorities, for example, and contacts are often only tracked to a limited extent. In addition, according to the ALM laboratory association, there is now a larger number of people whose infection is no longer confirmed by a PCR test – these infections are therefore not included in the official statistics.
According to the new information, 24 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were also 24 deaths. The RKI has counted 15,869,417 infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected. The number of corona-infected patients who came to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was 6.35 on Friday (Thursday: 6.36). Among them are many people with a positive corona test who have another main disease. The value is not reported on weekends. The RKI gave the number of recovered people on Monday as 12,287,900. The number of people who died from or involved a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 124,126.
Note: The figures from the RKI usually deviate slightly from the case data that ntv.de reported daily in the evening. The ntv.de data team directly accesses the registration numbers from the federal states as published by the local ministries and authorities. The RKI, on the other hand, is bound to the legally prescribed reporting channels, which can lead to a delay.
In addition, the respective daily values reflect different recording periods: The ntv evaluation collects the country data published up to the evening and uses this to calculate a daily status of the reported case numbers, which is usually published from 8 p.m. The RKI’s recording system, on the other hand, takes into account incoming reports up to midnight, with the current data status being announced the following morning.
