In a week, indoor sports grounds will open for up to ten people divided into pairs

In a week, indoor sports grounds will open for up to ten people, if they are divided into pairs and each will have a minimum of fifteen square meters. This follows an emergency measure approved by the government today. From May 17, this means not only the opening of fitness centers, but also the possibility of individual sports inside. For example, in a badminton hall you will be able to play on several courts next to each other. It is now true that a maximum of two players under the age of eighteen can play sports inside, and can be supervised by a coach.

Theoretically, this allows for the resumption of training for young people, but in practice it is complicated, among other things, because it does not pay off for commercial badminton centers, for example. In a week, these halls will be open to all amateurs. As with other newly permitted activities, the condition will be a negative coronavirus test, a full vaccination or a period of 90 days from covid-19.

Only the sports grounds themselves are open, changing rooms and showers remain closed. Likewise, people are not allowed to use changing rooms and showers at outdoor sports grounds. In connection with them, there are different rules in two places in the emergency measure. The first speaks generally of outdoor sports grounds and only states that it is forbidden to use the facilities. The second concerns the rules for organized amateur sport, and there remains a restriction to a maximum of 30 members, the need for negative tests and attendance records. It follows that registered athletes can train outdoors under stricter conditions than recreational players of team sports can meet.

It is not clear how the release of sports activities will develop. Government packages describing the plan to return to normal life are not very specific in measures for sport, and the government approaches them in a rather indicative way when formulating measures, the reality is usually different. Plans and government officials do not talk at all about allowing, for example, running, cycling and other endurance races outside for the public.
