In 2025, Volkswagen’s ID range will introduce its smallest electric model, starting at 20,000 euros.

Volkswagen will produce from 2025 in Spain its smallest electric model that will probably be called the ID 1 and will have similar dimensions to the popular Polo model. The very hard part is that the starting price is 20,000 euros.

The car will use the MEB First architecture on which three other models will be built: a slightly larger one from Volkswagen and two others from Cupra and Skoda respectively.

All will be built in Spain, where Volkswagen is also investing in a battery factory. In 2026, a larger crossover than the ID 1, called the ID 2all, should also roll off the production lines, with the target price starting at 25,000 euros.

It will be complicated for Volkswagen that the starting price for the ID 1 is around 20,000 euros, especially since the battery costs several thousand euros, all the components have become more expensive in recent years and the German company must also make a profit. The fact that many cars from several brands will be produced will overall reduce production costs.

It is not yet known whether the model will be called ID 1 or Polo

Very possibly the car will have a 57 kWh battery, the autonomy will be 350 km and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h will be done in 7 seconds.

Volkswagen sells the electric models ID 3, ID 4, ID 5, ID Buzz Pro and, in some countries, e-Up! in Europe. The Volkswagen ID.3 Pro Performance model costs from 44,000 euros, and the ID Buzz Pro is 65,000 euros.
