JAMBERITA.COM – Head of the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases of the Health Service of the Province of Jambi (P2PM) dr. Najatul Hasanah said cumulatively from 2009 to 2022 there were 2,284 people in Jambi province who were infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
“Maybe in a dual health facility, it could be registered more than once. Maybe you can take medicine at facility A and the next day it will be registered in Puskesmas B,” he said.
Najatul Hasanah said 98 new cases had been found from the total up to June 2022.
“For 2021 there will be 187 new cases, while from 2022 until June 98 cases have been registered and reported. The total was included in the total of 2,284 people,” he explained.
Najatul explained that HIV patients are in the productive age group between 15 and 49 years.
“” For self-transmission through fluids, both fluids from the genitals and then through the blood. So most of HIV transmission in 2020 and beyond is due to sexual intercourse. Besides that, it can also be done by changing the needles, “she said.
Meanwhile, for treatment, Najatul said HIV patients can get free consultations at health services in Jambi province.
“HIV treatment is free, by the government. So every patient can get medicine and counseling even at health facilities,” he explained.
“Where is Jambi province, he hopes that all services, both hospitals and health centers, can serve HIV patients,” he added. (sap)
