In 2008, the talented young man Mick Betsch appeared in go-karts. The German driver won one race after another, he had not only a talent for controlling the car, but also for racing strategy. He grew very fast and surpassed his peers. When he debuted in the German ADAC Formula 4 with the Van Amersfoort team in 2015, his name was Mick Schumacher. “Mick raced under his mother’s maiden name, we didn’t want to be put on unnecessary pressure and media attention,” says his manager.
–
But as it soon turned out, Mick can handle everything very well about racing.
–
A year later, he joined the Prema Powerteam team and took 2nd place in the championship, the second was also in the Italian F4 racing series. He has been driving a European F3 since 2017 and, after winning the title, entered the Formula 2 championship. And even though he was not successful at first, he kept saying that he and the car had to improve and that the results would come. He was right – he is currently leading the whole championship.
–
Syn seven-time world champion he is very well on track, there are six races left until the end of the Formula 2 World Championship, but few doubt that he would let the podium slip through his fingers. “He is still improving, the curve of his riding progress is steadily going up,” says his uncle and former F1 rider Ralf Schumacher. “I can’t imagine that he would not be followed by one of the Formula 1 teams. I always said that he must be among the three fastest, he is now leading. He definitely has it, he is always one of the fastest. “
–
not only does he receive first-class support in the preparation of physical and mental, but he also has a swept path to two F1 teams. Haas and Alfa Romeo take Ferrari’s engines and the stables work closely together. Haas would desperately need some fresh blood, and Alfa Romeo is not entirely happy with what Antonio Giovinazzi is doing.
–
“He was in second place in Formula 4 and won Formula 3. He is now leading F2. He has been performing well in several classes for several years and has repeatedly proven that he is one of the best. Does anyone here have reason to doubt his talent? ”Asked Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto at the last Grand Prix in Mugel, where the young Schumacher drove a monopost that his father had once ridden.
–
“His task was to drive the F2 and improve. And that’s exactly what he does. We’ll sit down soon and talk about what his next season will look like, “Binotto suggested that Scuderia was preparing for Mick’s Formula One promotion in 2021.” But it’s premature to talk about the team yet, after all long time.”
–
One thing is certain. The name Schumacher returns to Formula 1. Something very dramatic would have to happen for it to turn out differently. And not only Binotto would be thrilled if the famous name were once again associated with Ferrari. All fans of this legendary stable remember that when Michael came to Ferrari, it was everything, but not the winning team. But he and Jean Todt were able to change that. Will history repeat itself?
